I have worked as a speech and language therapist in the Netherlands for a decade. I am fascinated by the way language is intertwined with cognitive and emotional development. After moving to London in 2015, I graduated with a MSc in Language Sciences from UCL with specialisation in Language Development with merit in 2017. During my studies, I have completed a research project on metaphor comprehension in children with autism and children with Down Syndrome.

For the past year I have worked as a Research Assistant at CDLD on the WiSDom project which investigates cognitive functioning and language skills in adults with Williams Syndrome.

I am currently preparing for a PhD on gender differences in language development in Autism. Girls are greatly underrepresented in autism research and clinical practice. I am interested in the role of language in the female representation of autism.
